Magik es el proyecto que surge de la unión de dos músicos con dilatada experiencia: el guitarrista y productor Manolo Arias (Ñu, Niagara, Atlas, Arias – Barón Rojo, Iguana Tango, etc.) y el vocalista británico Giles Keith Ramírez (H.O.T., Ghost). Aunque se conocen desde hace casi 30 años, hasta la fecha, no había surgido la oportunidad de colaborar juntos.
De esta unión nace la idea de publicar un cover al mes, “12 meses, 12 versiones”, bajo el título de “Covers In Isolation”. De esta manera irán ofreciéndonos su particular visión de clásicos de los 60 y 70, siempre bajo su prisma personal, adaptándolo a su criterio musical.
La idea surge tras el periodo de cuarentena, donde Giles había estado compartiendo algunas versiones a través de RRSS. Precisamente por esa razón, la pandemia mundial, Arias se había visto abocado a retrasar su ópera prima “No Estoy Para Nadie” y pensó que era el momento de unir fuerzas bajo esta serie de clásicos que irán lanzando mes a mes.
El primer tema que nos ofrecen es un standard del rock mundial “Listen To The Music”, incluida en el segundo álbum de los californianos The Doobie Brothers, “Toulouse Street” (1972), con el que conseguirían su primer disco de oro.
MAGIK is a project which surges from the united efforts of two experienced musicians: guitarist/producer Manolo Arias (Ñu, Niagara, Atlas, Arias – Barón Rojo, Iguana Tango, etc.) and British vocalist Giles Keith Ramirez (H.O.T., Ghost, Reach). After knowing each other for nearly 30 years to date, the opportunity to work together had not presented itself till now. Born from this collaboration comes the idea to publish on a monthly basis, a string of cover tracks under the title of “Covers In Isolation”. Lending itself to offer their particular visions of classics from the 60’s and 70’s and always under the scrutiny of their own personal touch, hence adapting these to their musical criteria. This idea flourishes during lockdown, when Giles had been performing and sharing some classic covers through social media. For that same reason, the global pandemic, Arias found himself having to postpone his prime opus, “No Estoy Para Nadie” and immediately came up with the thought that it was just the right moment to unite forces with Giles and record a series of classics which they will be offering on a monthly basis. The first track on offer is a worldwide classic of the rock world “Listen To The Music” included in the Californians The Doobie Brothers second album “ Toulouse Street” (1972), which would go on to become their first golden album.
