ENTREVISTA UNIVERSAL
Hoy conocemos a Existence Depraved.

Matti: Divertido, siendo verdad.
sentimientos a algún lugar.

Matti: Perros y gatos siendo amables contigo. Me gustan los animales.
Toni: Equilibrio, sol, verano, gente real y empática, animales.

Matti: No

carrera y nunca volvería a hacerlo?
Matti: Bueno, como músicos no cometemos errores. Pero también como humanos,
no cometemos ningún error.
Matti:Metallica, Load & Reload.
Toni: Death – Individual Thought Patterns.

Toni: Igual!
 Una canción que te dé escalofríos
Matti: Kotiteollisuus: Satu Peikoista
Toni: Hans Zimmer – Time (tema de Inception)
 ¿Cerveza o whisky?
Matti: Whisky y Pepsi Max.
Runner.
 ¿Tu instrumento favorito aparte de los estándares?
Matti: Theremin, respuesta final.
Toni: Bajo sin trastes.
 LP, Cassete o CD??
Matti: Hombre Malvavisco Gigante.

Toni: ¡Ve a spotify o youtube y escucha nuestro álbum! Y con suerte lo haremos
conocernos un día en nuestros programas. ¡Gracias a todos!

Josean Zombie.

UNIVERSAL INTERVIEW

Welcome to the universal interview, an interview looking for a common point among the artists we are interviewing, touching the psichology and philosophy of each member, each detail that made possible your band. This is not a normal interview, there’s much more in here.

  • It’s always a pleasure to meet and support bands like yours, so please, in the name of Rock, please present yourselves. (Who’s answering this interview)

Toni: Hello there! I’m Toni Tieaho. I’m the singer and play guitar in this band. I  play some keyboard stuff as well.

Matti: Good evening, I’m the guitarist, and I also sing a bit as well.

  • In these questions I encourage you to present your album (or upcoming album) and guide us to the concept in order to create such a piece of art, how did you do it and what are you expecting of it?

Toni: Well, it all started when I decided to found this band. I made few a songs at my home with guitar, synth and I programmed the drums with EZdrummer. Vocals I recorded at the rehearsal place. When I had 5 songs ready I relased those as EP and after that I started to search band members. I mainly compose songs at my home and many of these songs or at least parts are firstly composed with keyboards, after that I start to add some guitars, drums and vocals to it. We have arranged few of the songs with whole band as well at the rehearsal place. But I guess the main thing for me is that I try to compose these song somehow different, as using keyboards instead using always guitar.

  • I always ask about the new album you are presenting but I would like to stay away from the script and ask you the person of the band you would choose to go to a lonely island with.

Matti: I would take no one, because finally I’d have a chance to get some time just for myself. Besides, what kind of thing are you expecting to happen here, armwrestling? I believe this might be a loaded question. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. A little nod to the Seinfeld fans.

  • What makes your propposal special, different from the others and unique?

Toni: I guess it’s the thing that we are not traditional heavy metal or melodic metal band. We have some agressive elements and vocals in our music and we have mixed some modern synth athmospheres to the songs as well.

  • A good opus always includes interesting topics. Please let us know more about the lyrical content of your album.

Toni: Lyrics are mainly about humanity and being human in this weird world. Social media inspires me to write lyrics sometimes too. I can’t understand people are fighting there about senseless things and using so much energy to it. And all those conspiracy theories spreading there…people don’t know what to believe anymore. Some of the lyrics are personal for me as well. When you stuggle with something in your life and have hard times it’s always good inspiration for writing lyrics

  • Analogical or digital? What do you preffer?

Matti: I’m one of the younger guys in the band, but I’m into the audio side of things. I’m old enough to have experienced the analog way of recording, in fact when I went to school for Music Technology in the Conservatory of Tampere, that was the first way we were taught, analog mixing boards, recording on tape, summing up, kind needing to get it right the first time.
I think that’s an excellent way to do things, and I think a lot of people these days take much too long to make an album, including us, and that takes away from the raw power of it. Having said that, thank a deity of your choosing for the endless possibilities of the digital way. And it keeps getting better. Don’t worry about it.

  • Album covers have always something to say and define genres… Let us know the meaning behind your album covers and the designers who created it.

Toni: I created it. The idea came first from our band name. This world is threatened by some unknown force and it’s depraving the world and humanity. On the other hand the title “Dissonant Image” came from the idea where this world and humans are so confused about all that is going on in this world. So it’s creating this “Dissonant Image”. People are lost, and life has become something they don’t fully understand anymore. Like the world would be cursed by some unknown force.

  • Stage presence has been always important in the Rock genre, is this an important point for you and how much do you care of it?

Toni: Yes it’s really important to have good stage presence. Audience has come there to watch your band live and they have paid for it. So we have to create an energetic and interesting show to the audience. We have to respect our fans and give our best for them.

  • Until which point can yourselves be driven by madness?

Matti: Where does it end?

  • It’s common knowledge that in life you need to know failure in order to sceed. What do you think about it?

Matti: I think this is very true, at least for myself, and very important. I’m a guy who got very good at stuff very quick and quite young, so I kinda hated it when people told me how talented I am. I’m the only person in my family that plays any instrument, and I was obsessed with it for some reason, and a lot of that time spent being miserable about how bad you suck, and how desperately you need to get better. Not told to you by anyone, just a feeling of not being good enough inside. It’s a lot of failure, especially when you’re young and something really works for you, but then you find the limit of that particular thing and realize you’ve climbed the tree ass first. So now you must reorientate yourself entirely, that’s the worst.

  • It’s clear that you are marked by a concrete music genre, but what did you see in it to dedicate your life to it?

Matti: Fun, being true. To me it’s just what comes out of me, and the people that gravitate towards each other for that, and for some reason in metal, very few of them are assholes.

Toni: For me it’s just a habit to overcome things and relieve my thoughts and feelings to somewhere. It has been always really important and special thing to me…it’s an escape route and a way to channel my energy.

  •  What would you say to your pasy “I” if you could speak to yourselves?

Matti: Do you mean past self? I’d say make sure you spell correctly. Study english. If you mean what I’d say to my past self, I’d say «You know that movie «Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles» that you love?» You’re not a turtle.

  • … If you would have to to dedicate your talent to ther music genre, which one would you choose?

Matti: Gypsy Jazz. Rosenberg Trio all the way.

Toni: Maybe some relaxing instrumental music. Some kind of soundtrack              stuff I guess

  •  What is the philosophy that guides you as human beings, not so human and make you be the way you are?

Matti: Just be a nice guy, give people a chance, it’s not really that hard.

Turn the other cheek, and if they slap you again, have your counter hook ready.

Toni: Yeah, be nice for everyone. Try to be positive even if it’s really fucking hard.  And reflect your goodness everywhere…I believe then you will receive some good things and vibes to yourself as well.

  •  Is there a chance for revolution as humanity or is it too late?

Matti: If you mean is all of humanity suddenly going to get better somehow?

No. I think it’s been too late for a very long time personally, but that’s ok for us, mankind is very resilient, and it’s only getting more resilient as time goes on. Listen to some George Carlin, and try your best.

  • From all your setlist, Which is the song that best define you as a band and which one can’t be out of the setlist?

Matti: The Outsider. Toni, comment?

Toni: Definitely The outsider. It has special meaning and I think it describes quite well our energy and  feelings that we put to our music .

  •  What are the normal things in life that give sense to it for you?

Matti: Dogs and cats being nice to you. I like animals.

Toni: Balance, sun, summer, real and empathic people, animals.

  •  How do you work your opus from scratch and how is the mixing and mastering process?

Matti: Toni usually has a pretty mature demo of a song, and we just play that. I sometimes have some ideas, but those are not necessarily needed, he can do it on his own, and that’s why I like him. I have been doing this recording and mixing stuff since I was 14 years old for money, by now I have a bit of a hang of it, and we wanted to get someone else to master this album, but ran out of time, so I did that too, reluctantly.

  • Van Halen always asked for a boul of M&M in their backstage with no brown color. So, what is the thing that can’t be missed in your backstage?

Matti: Lemmy Kilmister wanted I think 6 Kinder eggs or something just to check if they are there and if the people working there are cool. We are happy to be there, but I understand the logic behind it, and certainly would implement something like that as a similar inspection mannerism.

  •  Society is completely polarized in political matters, how is this affecting your day after day?

Matti: No.

Toni: Im tired to think political things. It’s just something that Im not interested about.

  •  What do you think is the biggest mistake you have ever made in your musical career and would never do again?

Matti: Well, as musicians we don’t make any mistakes. But also as humans, we don’t make any mistakes. As you can see from the replay, our fingering is perfect, the music is played as it was written and prearranged.

  •  Sure you have a special show you carefully remember, please tell us about it.

Toni: Show are yet to come…no shows yet.

  • A book or a comic that is very significant for you.

Matti: As the comic book nerd of this band, I believe I’ll take this one. The Watchmen by Alan Moore, the movie is very good too.

  • What its the album of your life?

Matti: Metallica’s Load & Reload.

Toni: Death – Individual Thought Patterns

  •  Tell us about a music festival that touched your soul.

Summer Breeze in Germany around 2009 or something, I had some of the greatest days of my life.

Toni: Nummirock in Finland 1996. Sepultura and Iron Maiden was there I was really young metalhead back then. It was the first time I saw big bands live like those

  • A dream to pursue?

Matti: Playing on a big stage to a whole bunch of people who care.

Toni: Same!

  • A song that gives you chills

Matti: Kotiteollisuus: Satu Peikoista

Toni: Hans Zimmer – Time (Inception theme)

  • Beer or Whiskie?

Matti: Whiskie and Pepsi Max. But if you offer me a beer, I won’t spit in it.

Toni: Beer!

  •  Playstation or X-Box?

Matti: I played a bit of Playstation when I was a kid, since then I can’t care enough to choose. I apologize to those who do, I’m sure all of our lives are exactly as worthless.

  • A sin to fulfill?

Matti: All of them.

  • Do you think electric sheep dream about robots?

Matti: No, but I do think Philip K. Dick in 1968 wrote a novel called «Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep?», which later became the movie Blade Runner.

  •  Your favorite instrument apart from the standards?

Matti: Theremin, final answer.

Toni: Fretless bass.

  • LP, Cassete or CD?? In words of the Ghostbusters, choose and die.

Matti: Giant Marshmallow Man.

  • This question is a must for me: I want you to confess a story from your life on the road that can be told and another one that can’t be told. Don’t run away from this question …

Matti: I’m legally obligated not to answer this question.

  •  What makes you angry in the music scene and what would you change?

Matti: Mediocrity. I like this question actually. I’d want to help everyone, especially guitarists and drummers to be a little bit better, just to make better choices as they are doing their albums. It’s the little things really for me.

  •  How do you do to survive and self-finance yourselves as a band?

Matti: We don’t, but we are trying.

  • What are your expectations for the future, something planned when the current situation is over?

Matti: Yes, hopefully we’ll be very busy in the future. Next album, we’re already writing, and we want to take this band on the road.

  • Finishing this non conventional interview, when the courtain falls, please let us know your feelings when the show is over.

Matti: Relief.

Toni: Feelings are ok!

  • Here we finish the universal interview in this new chapter and leave you some space to write something for your fans.

space to write at your fans.words for the readers and fans with this blank page.

Matti: Toni, spam all the links.

Toni: Go to spotify or youtube and take a listen to our album! And hopefully we’ll meet one day on our shows. Thank you everyone!
