Siempre es un placer conocer y apoyar a bandas como la suya, así que por favor, en nombre del Rock, preséntense. (Quién vaya a responder a esta entrevista)

En estas preguntas te animo a presentar tu álbum (o próximo álbum) y guiarnos hacia el concepto para poder crear tal obra de arte, ¿cómo lo hiciste y qué esperas de él?
«Hollow» es una palabra que refleja el álbum, este álbum fue escrito en tiempos de desesperación, pérdidas y corazones rotos, la canción es en realidad la última que se escribió para el álbum y durante el proceso de preproducción estaba pensando en un posible nombre para reflejarlo todo, que «Hollow» se sintió bien. Todos nos sentimos vacíos durante los años que rodearon este disco, mi vida fue un viaje infernal, otros miembros de la banda enfrentan la muerte en la familia, hogares rotos, depresión, crisis tras crisis.
Siempre pregunto sobre el nuevo álbum que estás presentando, pero me gustaría alejarme del guión y preguntarte a la persona de la banda con la que elegirías ir a una isla solitaria.

¿Qué hace que vuestra propuesta sea especial, diferente a las demás y única?
Todo nuestro cuerpo de arte, letras, música, agenda y los equipos de fútbol que adoramos.
Una buena obra siempre incluye temas interesantes. Haznos saber más sobre el contenido lírico de su álbum.
Escribo solo sobre mi propia vida, vengo de un trasfondo de poesía, publiqué un libro de poemas en 1993 llamado «Rage Prophet» en Israel a la edad de 18 años, así que escribir para mí siempre fue la forma de expresar lo que siento. Escribo canciones desde que tenía 12 años, incluso cuando escribo sobre Warrel Dane en «Into The Mouth Of Madness» escribo sobre mis sentimientos durante el último año de su vida y el día en que falleció, leer la letra del álbum es un viaje a mi corazón, pero claro que la gente lleva la canción al lugar que le apetece y es genial, es el poder del arte en mi opinión
¿Cómo ha sido trabajar con Fernando Ribero y los demás amigos? Excelente ! Fernando es un gran tipo, gran artista y un buen amigo, saludamos a Moonspell

No, 2019-2018 son de hecho, la canción no es sobre el Coronavirus sino sobre una mujer destructiva buscadora de oro que lamentablemente ha sido mi ex Hoy vivimos en un mundo libre… ¿o no? No todos, estamos atados con cadenas de bronce, pregúntale a Satyricon … 🙂

¿Qué es «Misery Rain»?
Una canción sobre una querida persona cerrada que se entregó a la esclavitud moderna, al mundo de cultos, las adicciones y la conspiración, teorías extremas hechas por sectas con el fin de chupar su dinero, basada en una historia real, tan triste que la gente cae a estas peligrosas curvas en tiempos de desesperación, invitamos a Fernando de Moonspell a unirse a nosotros en esta canción, ¡qué gran chico y súper vocalista es!
¿Cuáles son tus sentimientos cuando estamos en la boca de la locura? Que extraño a Warrel.
Las portadas de los álbumes siempre tienen algo que decir y definen los géneros … Haznos saber el significado detrás de las portadas de tus álbumes y hablamos sobre los diseñadores que las crearon.
Me recuerdo sentado frente a la computadora, revisando sitios web de muchos diseñadores y artistas de álbumes de metal y goth y el 99% se ve igual, puedes reemplazar el logotipo y listo, y estaba buscando algo diferente, algo que me recuerde en la vibra de las portadas de los álbumes de Joy Division, Bauhaus e incluso los primeros Darkthrone o el álbum debut de Danzig, un fuerte elemento en blanco y negro que creará la vibra adecuada, Ziv Lenzner vino a mi mente, Ziv no es un diseñador de metal pero un anatomista y artista en Tel Aviv, crecimos de niños y él lideraba una banda de death metal en 1990-1991, sabía que entendería exactamente lo que quería, lo llamé y aquí estamos … 😊 hizo exactamente lo que tenía en mente. No hubo necesidad de discutir muchas cosas, le di la idea y la referencia y siendo de la misma «escuela» sabía exactamente qué hacer.
La presencia en el escenario siempre ha sido importante en el género Rock, ¿es este un punto importante para ti y cuánto te importa?
Saldremos al escenario vestidos como Batman con un sombrero de vaquero gótico a la Sisters Of Mercy 1986, en serio es importante pero por supuesto la música es lo primero.
¿Hasta qué punto podéis dejaros llevar por la locura?
Hasta que ya no pueda jugar con eso.
Es de conocimiento común que en la vida es necesario conocer el fracaso para poder acertar. ¿Qué piensas al respecto?
Un poco de acuerdo, ahora somos mayores y más sabios
Está claro que estás marcado por un género musical concreto, pero ¿Qué ves en él para dedicarle tu vida?
Nunca dediqué mi vida a un estilo musical específico, ni siquiera dediqué mi vida a la música, dedico mi vida a mis hijos y mi familia y soy una buena persona, solo de lo que viene la música.
¿Qué le dirías a tú «yo» del pasado si pudieras hablarte a ti mismo?
«juzgame por lo que quiero, no por lo que soy»
… Si tuvieras que dedicar tu talento a otro género musical, ¿cuál elegirías?
Cambia de dia a dia
¿Cuál es la filosofía que os guía como seres humanos, no tan humanos y los hace ser como sois?

De todo tu setlist, ¿cuál es la canción que mejor te define como banda y cuál no puede quedar fuera del setlist? En mi opinión: «Trees»
¿Cuáles son las cosas normales de la vida que le dan sentido a esto?
Ser padre, ser creativo, ser honesto
¿Cómo trabajas tu obra desde cero y cómo es el proceso de mezcla y masterización?
Detrás de la producción está Dory Bar Or, ex guitarrista de «Eternal Grey», hizo la mezcla y masterización, comenzamos a escribir las canciones hace años, 2 de las canciones están con nosotros desde los primeros días, pero la mayoría del material fue escrito. En los últimos 3 años, fue un viaje largo para grabar a tantos músicos invitados y tenga en cuenta que también grabamos el álbum completo en hebreo para una edición especial dentro del mercado israelí, por lo que grabamos alrededor de 18 canciones y las partes de los músicos invitados como Sakis o Greg, etc., fueron todos hechos en hebreo por músicos de rock famosos de Israel, los nombres no se conocen fuera de Israel, pero los músicos invitados hebreos como Micha Shitrit, Ricky Gal, Eran Zur, Shlomi Bracha y Avi Balleli son todos artistas de rock muy conocidos en Israel desde los años 80 con álbumes que vendieron 15.000-80.000 unidades solo en Israel
Van Halen siempre pidió un bol de M&M’s en su backstage sin color marrón. Entonces, ¿qué es lo que no puede faltar en tu backstage?
Intenté durante unos minutos pensar en algo gracioso pero no pude, supongo que por eso tocamos este tipo de música.
La sociedad está completamente polarizada en materia política, ¿cómo te está afectando esto día a día?
Me importa un comino la política, todos son mentirosos manipulando a las masas, ¡el poder al pueblo!
¿Cuál crees que es el mayor error que has cometido en tu carrera musical y que nunca volverías a cometer?
Ja! Eso es fácil, rechacé un trato con Sony Music / Epic rec en 1996 cuando tenía 21 años en mi primera banda porque uno de nuestros muchachos necesitaba terminar su servicio militar.
Seguro que tienes un directo especial que recuerdas cuidadosamente, cuéntanoslo.
Mucho, toco en escenarios desde 1992, pero abrir con Tomorrow’s Rain para Paradise Lost por primera vez fue un gran momento mágico para mí.
Un libro o un cómic que sea muy significativo para ti. Demasiados libros para mencionar, leí mucho, leí demasiado, creo, es un gran escapismo.
¿Cuál es el álbum de tu vida?
Sisters Of Mercy – «First & Last & Forever» y «… And Justice For All» de Metallica
Cuéntanos sobre un festival en vivo de música que te tocó el alma. Nunca he estado en un festival de música, voy a conciertos regulares si quiero ver a la banda.

¿Qué te enoja en la escena musical y qué cambiarías?
Cambiaría mucho, la estupidez me enoja, la deshonestidad también.
¿Cómo hacen para sobrevivir y autofinanciarse como banda?
Soy un conocido promotor de metales en Israel.
¿Cuáles son sus expectativas para el futuro, algo planeado cuando se acabe la situación actual?
Para hacer una gira por este álbum, para escribir nuestro segundo.

- In these questions I encourage you to present your album (or upcoming album) and guide us to the concept in order to create such a piece of art, how did you do it and what are you expecting of it?
«Hollow» is a word that reflects the album, this album was written in times of despair, loss and broken heart, the song is actually the last one written for the album and during the pre production process I was thinking about a possible name to reflect it all, than «Hollow» felt right.
We all felt hollow during the years surrounded this record, my life was a hellish ride, other band members face death in the family, broken homes, depression, crisis after crisis.
- I always ask about the new album you are presenting but I would like to stay away from the script and ask you the person of the band you would choose to go to a lonely island with.

- What makes your propposal special, different from the others and unique?
Our whole body of art, lyrics, music, agenda, and the football teams we adore.
- A good opus always includes interesting topics. Please let us know more about the lyrical content of your album.
I write only about my own life, I am coming from a poetry background, I released a poems book back in 1993 called «Rage Prophet» in Israel at the age of 18 so writing for me was always the way to express things I feel, I write songs since I was 12, even when I write about Warrel Dane in «Into The Mouth Of Madness» I write about my feelings through the last year of his life and the day he passed away, reading the album’s lyrics is a journey to my heart, but of course people take the song to the place they feel like and it’s great, it’s the power of art in my opinion
- how has it been working with Fernando Ribero and the other friends?
Great ! Fernando is a great guy, great artist and a good friend, we salute Moonspell
- What are you really afraid of?
My inner demons, you don’t wanna know them
- Its 2020 the year would like to forget?
No, 2019-2018 are indeed, the song is not about the Coronavirus but about a gold digger destructive women whom sadly been my ex
- Today we live in a free world… or not is it?
Not al all, we are tied in bronze chains, ask Satyricon…:-)

Analogical for me, the past is alive

I’m only happy of corpse
- the tree roots are live or dead?
They are bloody, ask Max.
- what its “Misery Rain”?
A song about a beloved closed person who gave up to modern slavery world of cults, addiction and conspiracy extreme theories made by cults in order to suck his money, based on a true story, so sad that people fall to these dangerous curves in times of despair, we invited Fernando from Moonspell to join us in this song, what a great guy and super vocalist he is !
- what are your feelings when we are into the mouth of madness?
That i miss Warrel.
- Album covers have always something to say and define genres… Let us know the meaning behind your album covers and the designers who created it.
I remember myself sitting in front of the computer, checking websites of many metal and goth album’s designers and artists and 99% looks the same, you can replace the logo and there you go, and I was looking for something different, something that will remind in the vibe the album covers of Joy Division, Bauhaus, and even early Darkthrone or the debut Danzig album, a strong b/w element that will create the right vibe, than Ziv Lenzner came to my mind, Ziv is not a metal designer but an Anatomist and artist in Tel Aviv, we grew up as kids and he was leading a death metal band in 1990-1991, I knew he will understand exactly what I want, I called him and here we are…😊 he made exactly what had in mind. There was no need to discuss many things, I gave him the idea and reference and being from the same «school» he knew exactly what to do.
- Stage presence has been always important in the Rock genre, is this an important point for you and how much do you care of it?
We will hit the stage dressed like Batman with a gothic cowboy hats a la Sisters Of Mercy 1986, seriously it is important but of course music comes first
- Until which point can yourselves be driven by madness?
Till i can no longer play with it
- It’s common knowledge that in life you need to know failure in order to sceed. What do you think about it?
Kinda agree, we are older and wiser now
- It’s clear that you are marked by a concrete music genre, but what did you see in it to dedicate your life to it?
I never dedicated my life to specific music style, i never even dedicated my life to music, i dedicate my life to my kids and family and be a good person, only than comes the music
- What would you say to your pasy “I” if you could speak to yourselves?
«judge me for what i want, not for what i am»
- … If you would have to to dedicate your talent to ther music genre, which one would you choose?
It change from day to day
- What is the philosophy that guides you as human beings, not so human and make you be the way you are?
It takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile
- Is there a chance for revolution as humanity or is it too late?
Sadly i think its too late
- From all your setlist, Which is the song that best define you as a band and which one can’t be out of the setlist?
In my opinion: «Trees»
- What are the normal things in life that give sense to it for you?
Being a father, being creative, being honest
- How do you work your opus from scratch and how is the mixing and mastering process?
Behind the production is Dory Bar Or, ex «Eternal Gray» guitarist, he did the mix and mastering, we started to write the songs years ago, 2 of the songs are with us from the early days but the majority of the material was written in the last 3 years, it was a long journey as to record so many guest musicians and keep in mind we also recorded the whole album in Hebrew as well for a special edition within the Israeli market so we recorded around 18 songs and the parts of the guests musicians as Sakis or Greg etc were all done in Hebrew by a famous rock musicians from Israel, the names are not known outside Israel but the Hebrew guest musicians as Micha Shitrit, Ricky Gal, Eran Zur, Shlomi Bracha and Avi Balleli are all very known rock artists in Israel since the 80’s with albums that sold 15.000-80.000 units in Israel only
- Van Halen always asked for a boul of M&M in their backstage with no brown color. So, what is the thing that can’t be missed in your backstage?
I tried for few minutes to think about something funny but couldn’t, i guess that’s why we play this kind of music
- Society is completely polarized in political matters, how is this affecting your day after day?
I don’t give a damn about politics, they are all liars manipulating the masses, power to the people !
- What do you think is the biggest mistake you have ever made in your musical career and would never do again?
Ha ! that’s an easy one, i turned down a deal with Sony Music/Epic rec in 1996 when i was 21 in my first band because one of our guys needed to finish his military service.
- Sure you have a special show you carefully remember, please tell us about it.
Alot, i play on stages since 1992 but opening with Tomorrow’s Rain for Paradise Lost in the first time was a great magical moment for me.
- A book or a comic that is very significant for you.
Too many books to mention, i read alot, i read too much i think, its a great escapism.
- What its the album of your life?
Sisters Of Mercy – First And Last And Always and Metallica’s «And Justice For All»

Never been in music festival, i go to regular shows if i want to see the band.

We never toured so far so i can tell only local stuff…:-)
- What makes you angry in the music scene and what would you change?
I would change alot, stupidity makes me angry, dishonesty as well.
- How do you do to survive and self-finance yourselves as a band?
I am a well known metal promoter in israel
- What are your expectations for the future, something planned when the current situation is over?
To tour this album, to write our second one.
